IS LATIN AMERICAN ALLIANCE ONLY FOR LATINOS?/ ¿ES LATIN AMERICAN ALLIANCE SOLAMENTE PARA LATINOS?

No.  LAA is an organization of the community, for the community, Hispanics and non-Hispanics of Lancaster County and even beyond.

 

No.  LAA es una organización de la comunidad, por la comunidad y para la comunidad, Latina y no-Latina, del Condado de Lancaster y aún más allá de sus fronteras.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN COMMITTEES OF LAA?/¿CUÁLES SON LOS PRINCIPALS COMITÉS DE LAA?

To fulfill the mission of LAA, the following committees have been established:/Para poder cumplir con la mission de LAA, se han establecido los siguientes comités:

  1. Cultural Development/Desarrollo Cultural

  2. Miss Hispanic Scholarship/Beca Estudiantil “Señorita Hispanidad”

  3. Latin American Festival/Pro-Festival Latinoamericano

  4. Economic Development/Desarrollo Económico

IS EVERYONE WELCOMED TO PARTICIPATE ON ONE OF THE LAA COMMITTEES OR IS IT ONLY BY INVITATION?/¿ES CUALQUIER PERSONA BIENVENIDA PARA PARTICIPAR EN UNO DE LOS COMITÉS, O ES SOLAMENTE POR INVITACIÓN?

Whoever has a genuine interest in serving the community on behalf of the Latin American culture is more than welcome.  Obviously, it is necessary to be conversant in Spanish (Spanish and English preferably) and also, be older than 18.  An interview would be held with the interested person to learn of their specific abilities and interests.

         

Cualquier persona que tenga interés genuino de servir a la comunidad Latina es bienvenida.  Obviamente, se le hace una entrevista para conocer de las habilidades y puntos fuertes de los interesados.  Entre los requisitos básicos es ser mayor de 18 años y fluente en español, preferiblemente bilingüe.

WHAT COUNTRIES ARE REPRESENTED WITHIN LAA?/¿QUÉ PAÍSES ESTÁN REPRESENTADOS DENTRO DE LAA?

All the Latin American countries are represented in LAA.  A prime example is seen during every opening ceremony of the annual Latin American Festival where every flag of each Latin American country is carried by an individual from that country, including the United States, the country we all call home.

Todos los países latinoamericanos están representados en LAA.  Un vivo ejemplo de ello lo podemos apreciar durante la ceremonia de apertura del Festival Latinoamericano, donde cada bandera es presentada por individuos de dichos países, a los que se suma los Estados Unidos, país al que todos  llamamos “nuestra casa”.

HOW HAVE THE ACTIVITIES OF LAA BENEFITED OUR COMMUNITY?/¿CÓMO SE HA BENEFICIADO LA COMUNIDAD DE LAS ACTIVIDADES DE LAA?

LAA is, by its nature, a Community Benefit Organization.  The students have benefited through their participation in our annual Spanish Literature Contest as well as other cultural presentations of music and dance in the schools.  Additionally, the young people have as role models our Miss Hispanics to inspire them to follow their dreams, especially in education.

The entire community has learned and celebrated at our annual Latin American Festival where young and old, regardless of their nationality,  come together for a day of the various cultural expressions of the 21 Latin American countries, including the variety of authentic cuisine.

La naturaleza de LAA es una organización de beneficio comunal.  La comunidad estudiantil se ha beneficiado al participar en nuestro Concurso Anual de Literatura en Español.  Además, la juventud se ha beneficiado al ser inspirados por nuestras Señoritas Hispanidad.

​

La comunidad entera aprende y disfruta de nuestro Festival Latinoamericano, donde chicos y grandes, al margen de su nacionalidad pueden unificarse por medio de las diferentes expresiones culturales de los 21 países latinoamericanos, incluyendo la variedad de comida típica.

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER WITH THE LATIN AMERICAN ALLIANCE?

We are always looking for motivated individuals who are inspired to serve our community. We know that everyone has special skills to contribute, so individuals of all ages and abilities are welcome. There are both long-term opportunities to serve on committees during the entire year, as well as short-term volunteer opportunities for special events, such as the Latin American Festival or the Spanish Literature Contest. I HAVE A RESTAURANT OR FOOD TRUCK. HOW CAN I BECOME A FOOD VENDOR AT THE LATIN AMERICAN FESTIVAL?

In order to sell food at the Festival, you will need to fill out an application and follow all of the guidelines established by the City of Lancaster. The paperwork needs to be in place with plenty of time before the event, so please don’t delay! Contact us or call us at 717-538-9498 for more information.

About miss hispanic

I KNOW A YOUNG PERSON WHO WOULD BE A WONDERFUL SEÑORITA HISPANIDAD. CAN I RECOMMEND HER?

Yes! We are looking to uplift a young woman who is pursuing her education in some field in order to represent our organization and to serve as a cultural ambassador at our events and in the schools. Please share the guidelines for our Miss Hispanic Scholarship program with anyone who meets the criteria and encourage them to fill out an application.
