Latin American Alliance
Andes Manta Workshop and Concert at Cocalico High School
Latin American Alliance was proud to host a workshop featuring the musical group Andes Manta and their dance group Ayazamana at Cocalico High School on November 3, 2021.

Cocalico students from Spanish and music classes had the opportunity to learn about Andean music in a hands-on workshop.

Students were instructed in how to make a paya, a specific type of pan flute fashioned from bamboo:

Members of Andes Manta spoke about the origins of the instrument, how it is used in the their culture, and gave students a brief lesson in how to play the paya.

The event concluded with a concert by Andes Manta and their dance group, Ayazamana.

Students enthusiastically applauded the performance and were engaged throughout the afternoon. Latin American Alliance was proud to bring this programming to Cocalico High School with the support of a generous grant from the Steinman Foundation.
